String & Stone: Crafting Ancient Tools
| Outdoor | ||
| August 19 at 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm | 12+ | $50 |
Discover two of humanity’s oldest and most essential technologies in this hands-on workshop at the Chapel at Finley Farms.
Learn how our ancestors transformed stone and plant fibers into practical tools that shaped daily life for thousands of years. You’ll explore the art of flintknapping as you work with local chert to create sharp stone flakes, then learn to make strong 2-ply reverse-twist cordage using natural plant fibers.
Blending history, craftsmanship, and a deeper connection to the natural world, this workshop offers a unique opportunity to slow down, work with your hands, and gain an appreciation for the ingenuity and resourcefulness that helped shape human history.
Participants will leave with their own stone tools, handmade cordage, and a newfound understanding of the first technologies ever created.
